Surface Mount Bollards Melbourne
Surface mount bollards, also called base plate or bolt down bollards, are the fastest way to add vehicle protection to an existing concrete slab. The bollard is welded to a steel base plate and anchored with chemical or mechanical fixings, so there is no core drilling, no excavation and no waiting for concrete to cure. Sizes, base plates and finishes
Our range covers 90mm, 114mm, 140mm and 165mm outside diameters in round and square profiles, with above ground heights from 900mm to 1600mm. Base plates are supplied in 200x200mm and 250x250mm formats with four fixing holes. Choose hot dip galvanised for exposed sites, powder coated safety yellow, black or white for visibility and appearance, or 304 stainless steel for premium retail and hospitality frontages. Reflective banding is available on request.

Choosing between bollard fixing types
If you can core drill and want the highest impact resistance, specify in-ground bollards instead, because impact energy transfers into the footing rather than the anchors. If the bollard needs to come out for deliveries or events, use removable sleeve lock bollards. To stop unauthorised parking in a reserved bay, fold down parking bollards are the usual choice. Frequently asked questions
Are surface mount bollards strong enough for vehicle impact? Yes, for low to moderate speed impacts typical of car parks and warehouses. The limiting factor is the concrete and the anchors rather than the post, so slab thickness and edge distance should be checked. For high energy or ram raid protection we recommend in-ground.
What fixings do I need? Most 140mm and 165mm base plate bollards use M12 or M16 anchors into sound concrete at least 100mm thick. We can supply the anchors with your order.
Can I get them powder coated to a colour code? Yes. Safety yellow and black are stocked, and custom colours are matched on request for shopping centres and branded sites.
